4 We have to "go slow"on nick nacks & even if we were to buy everything that we have an oportunity to, we could not get them cooked & fixed up like "our wives" prepare them at home. However as soldiers we can't complain even here, though we would if we were at home, as I trust we shall be ere long.... Genl Wallis' Ship has gone to New Orleans, I suppose with dispatches & he is here, but for what I know not. I am studying Geography & History (of the U.S.A.) regularly & am making some advancement. I hope to hear by next mail - which we are expecting every day, - that you are getting along well with your studies. But I think I will stop & wait till the mail comes. I close this sheet wishing that I were up in Iowa, but Alas! I am not. Good night. May God bless you.
