It was the Drs. doing & I guess it was for the best, for I was quite unwell & was taking medicine, & dont know as I could have stood it, marching in the hot sun the past 3 days. I had calculated to go to Brownsville when it was taken & did not much like the idea of being left behind. I dont think they have been fighting any though or we would have heard it, for they have artillery along this trip. I am beginning to feel much better now, & am having a very comfortable time, though rather lonesome, as there no whites in camp, but the Hospital Steward, the two sutlers & myself. I look for some of them back to morrow, & then I cant tell whether we shall go to Brownsville or whether the regt will return & finnish the fort, here commenced.
